Pater Peter Niesemann was a significant member of the Redemptorist order and played a formative role at the Collegium Josephinum Bonn (CoJoBo). Born in 1942, he joined the order in 1963 and was ordained as a priest in 1968. His life’s work is closely tied to CoJoBo, where he completed his Abitur and later served as a teacher and rector. From 1985 to 2006, he led the Realschule at CoJoBo and was well-known for his commitment to the school community.
One of his most notable achievements was founding and managing the school zoo at CoJoBo, which became famous beyond Bonn and provided students with a unique opportunity to experience nature and learn responsibility firsthand. In addition to his educational work, Father Niesemann authored several historical works, including significant contributions to the history of the Redemptorist monastery in Bonn.
Father Niesemann was known not only for his dedication to education and youth development but also for his calm, humorous, and friendly nature. His deep connection to the school community and tireless efforts for the well-being of students and the order have left a lasting legacy.
He passed away on August 29, 2024, in Bonn. The date of the funeral will be announced later.
