On January 22, 2025, Father Wilfried Lienesch C.Ss.R. passed away at the age of 76 in Trier, Germany. Born on May 16, 1948, he joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) and made his first vows on July 20, 1969. On July 21, 1974, he was ordained as a priest. His life was marked by a deep commitment to the Catholic Church and the people in his community.
Father Wilfried Lienesch was well known for his close ties to the Diocese of Osnabrück. In his role as a representative, he frequently conveyed personal greetings from the Bishop of Osnabrück and gave a voice to the concerns of the Catholics in the city. This mission reflected his dedication to strengthening the connection between Church leadership and the faithful.
His pastoral ministry spanned several decades, during which he was highly regarded as a spiritual guide and mediator. Father Wilfried had the unique ability to align the needs of the people with the interests of the Church and vice versa.

On January 30, 2025, family, friends, and parish members gathered at Jugend-Kloster Kirchhellen in Bottrop to bid farewell to Father Wilfried. Many shared their memories of him and expressed their gratitude for his support and guidance. Following the service, Father Wilfried was laid to rest in the monastery cemetery.
Father Wilfried Lienesch leaves behind a legacy of service and connection. His ability to build bridges and bring people together will always be remembered.
